Adding Content

Go to your website’s home page and you will see that you are ready to begin building your new website. In Adaptive, new blog posts will appear automatically on the front page. To add new posts login to the admin and navigate to Posts > Add New.

Creating your post:

  1. Enter a title.
  2. Add your text content.
  3. Select your categories and tags.
  4. Choose your featured image. This needs to be at least 1100×800 pixels to fill the front page.
  5. Click Publish.

Using the portfolio template


This page will display all of your work as thumbnails in 2 or 3 columns. In your WordPress Admin, choose “Add New” under Pages.

  1. Give your page a title.
  2. Choose the Portfolio Template.
  3. Click Publish.

Add images to the horizontal scrollers

Go to your website’s home page and you will see that you are ready to begin building your portfolio. Click “Start Adding Content” on the front page and this will be your first portfolio item.

Add your first item to your portfolio:

  1. Enter a title.
  2. Add your text.
  3. Check this box include in front page slideshow. (Optional to place on the front page.)
  4. Enter your first “Skill.” This is a way to categorize your work.
  5. Add details about your work, year, title, details. (Optional)
  6. Choose your featured image. (needs to be at least 950×500 pixels)
  7. Click Publish.

Note: Portfolio images will be seen in other horizontal galleries, shown by portfolio category. See the next topic (Create multiple scrolling galleries) on how to make this happen.

Adding a logo

You can easily add your logo to any Theme Spectrum theme.

  1. In the WordPress admin, click Media and Click Add New
  2. Use the media uploader to upload your image by clicking Select Files
  3. Once the image is uploaded, select and copy the File URL of the image and click Save all changes.
  4. Return to the theme options and paste the fileʼs URL
  5. Click Save Changes.

To remove the logo just delete the URL and click Save Changes again.

 

Look and feel, CSS and changing default footer text

Background
Changing the background can be done easily by choosing a pre-made background option. To disable these and use the WordPress background feature, you can click the box Disable Background.

Custom CSS
This box allows you to add your own custom CSS without having to change the theme. Using this could make installing updated themes easier for you.

Footer Text
The theme provides an easy way to change the canned text that appears in the footer. You can add your own text or HTML to the left and right side. To make this blank you can simply add a space or two.

 

Adding custom RSS feed and Analytics

RSS
This allows you to add your own RSS feed if it differs from the one WordPress generates.

Analytics
Easily add your analytics tracking code without editing the the theme. This will be placed before the </head> tag.

 

Adding social media links to your theme

Add link icons to your favorite social media networks. Simply add the social network URL and your icon will appear at the top. This theme supports Behance, Blogger, Delicious, design float, Deviant Art, digg, Facebook, Flickr, friendfeed, Google, LinkedIn, Reddit, stumbleupon, tumblr, Twitter, vimeo and YouTube.

Adding linked social media icons to your theme is quick and easy.

  1. Go to your theme setting in the WordPress admin.
  2. Under the Social Media tab, add your URL for the corresponding social media site.
  3. Click Save and you are done.
