Adding Content

Go to your website’s home page and you will see that you are ready to begin building your new website. In Adaptive, new blog posts will appear automatically on the front page. To add new posts login to the admin and navigate to Posts > Add New.

Creating your post:

  1. Enter a title.
  2. Add your text content.
  3. Select your categories and tags.
  4. Choose your featured image. This needs to be at least 1000×300 pixels to fill the front page.
  5. Click Publish.

Adding Images to the Front Page Slideshow

When adding a page you can easily include the featured image into the front page
slideshow. Choose Pages > Add New in your WordPress admin.

  1. Enter the title and content for your post.
  2. On the bottom right side of this page click Set featured image, choose your image and click Use as featured image. Close the box.
  3. Check the Include in Slideshow box.
  4. Set the page template that you would like to use. See the end of this page for a brief explanation of these.
  5. Click the Publish button to save and publish the page.

Adding Images to the Front Page Gallery

When adding a page you can easily include the featured image into the front page slideshow. Choose Pages > Add New in your WordPress admin.

  1. Enter the title and content for your post.
  2. On the bottom right side of this page click Set featured image, choose your image and click Use as featured image. Close the box.
  3. Click the Include in Home Page Gallery box.
  4. Set the page template that you would like to use. See the end of this page for a brief explanation of these.
  5. Click the Publish button to save and publish the page.

How to Create an Inside Page Gallery

Showcase supports pages to be setup as galleries if one of the subpage gallery page templates is selected.  To create one of these:

  1. Create your gallery page and choose the 2, 3 or 4 Column Subpage Gallery template. I will call this page Gallery for this example.
  2. Publish this page.
  3. Create a new page with the content of your gallery image and set a featured image for this page.
  4. Set this page’s parent to be the Gallery page, or whatever you named yours.
  5. Continue this to build out your gallery page.

General Settings

Adding a Logo
You can easily add your logo to any Theme Spectrum theme.

  1. In the WordPress admin, click Media and Click Add New
  2. Use the media uploader to upload your image by clicking Select Files
  3. Once the image is uploaded, select and copy the File URL of the image and click Save all changes.
  4. Return to the theme options and paste the file’s URL
  5. Click Save Changes.

To remove the logo just delete the URL and click Save Changes again.

Look and feel
Changing the background image can be done easily by choosing a pre-made background option. To disable these and use the WordPress background feature, you can click the box Disable Background. The link colors and heading fonts can also be changes here by selecting the color scheme and fonts drop down menus.

Custom CSS
This box allows you to add your own custom CSS without having to change the theme. Using this area for your styles will make installing updated themes easier for you in the future.

Changing the Default Footer Text
This theme provides an easy way to change the canned text that appears in the bottom of the footer. You can add your own text or HTML to the left and right side. To make this blank you can simply add a space or two and save your changes.

 

 

Front Page

Slideshow Settings

Deactivate Links – This option will prevent slides from linking to corresponding pages.

Transition Effect – This option changes the transition effect of the slides in the slideshow.

Speed in Seconds – Use this option to time how long an image is shown before moving to the next.  Enter 0 to disable auto-playing.

 

Gallery Settings

Gallery Title (optional) – Enter the title of your gallery.

Layout – 2, 3 or 4 column layout.

Show Item Titles – Shows the title of each image below the image.

 

 

Integration

RSS
This area allows you to add your custom RSS feed if it differs from the one WordPress generates.

Analytics
Easily add your analytics tracking code without editing the the theme. This will be placed before the </head> tag.

 

 

Adding social media links to your theme

Adding linked social media icons to your theme is quick and easy.

  1. Go to your theme setting in the WordPress admin.
  2. Under the Social Media tab, add your URL for the corresponding social media site.
  3. Click Save and you are done.

 

Page Templates

This theme includes the following page templates:

  1. Default Template – Featured image cropped at top with content and a sidebar.
  2. 2 Column Subpage Gallery – Used to display featured images from children of this page in a 2 column layout.
  3. 3 Column Subpage Gallery – Used to display featured images from children of this page in a 3 column layout.
  4. 4 Column Subpage Gallery – Used to display featured images from children of this page in a 4 column layout.
  5. Archives – Used to display a list of archives.
  6. Full Width – Same as the default layout but without a sidebar.
  7. Full Width and Height – Same as the Full Width layout but allows the featured image at the top to be much taller.
  8. Subpage List – An alternative to the gallery view but in 3 column format.
